Be
it the trendy futurism of Bed Supperclub, the brash mega-clubs of RCA,
or a dingy late-night hovel, you'll find that, even with tight closing
regulations, Bangkok indeed knows how to party!
Most venues these days are both aurally and aesthetically
sophisticated – quality (although not always adventurous) DJing talent,
eye-catching venue design and sparkling sound systems. Admission is
often free, with the exception of venues showcasing international DJs.
These may charge anything from 100 baht all the way up to, and
occassionally in excess of, 1,000 baht. Usually this will include one or
two free drinks. Most places are fairly relaxed and impose no strict
dress codes. Some of the posher establishments though don't like to see
flip flops or shorts, and require ID. Make sure you find out before to
avoid disappointment.
The following guide has all you need to keep abreast of the scenes
comings and goings: what's on, regular club nights, all the best clubs
The Park Bridge

There is a new trendy club in Patpong: The
ParkBridge. This is a very small Club “created” on a bridge between two
buildings (hence its name, I guess) and literally above the street of
Patpong soi 2.
This is small but cozy with a nice interior design and a small
mezzanine. The large windows on both sides of the “bridge” give you a
unique view of the lively Patpong soi 2 below.
Lounge music between 6 and 10 pm and after that, there is a DJ.
Cocktails cost 200 to 300 baht and Beers 140 to 200 baht. How to go
there? That’s the question! You need to find the stairs. Ask for help to
the bargirls hanging around.
Talking about girls, will there be freelancers inside? Not sure. However
the few gogo bars around and the Funky Dojo next door should help you to
not go home alone.

Q
Bar

Dark and sleek, this New York-style bar and club attracts a cosmopolitan
crowd and is a running favourite among locals and expats. With over 50
different international brands of Vodka packing out their impressive
freezers, 20 different types of tequilas and 50 whiskey brands, and even
a few bottles of Absinthe, it's also a booze connoisseur's paradise.
Fancy a fine Cuban to accompany that fine Russian vodka martini? This is
one of the few bars in Thailand to feature a full line of cigars from
Cuba and Don Pablo.
Seven years strong, Q Bar continues to feature top international talent
(Derrick Carter, Plump DJs and Afrika Islam, to name a few) as well as
play host to an eclectic mix of regular events featuring Bangkok's best
hip-hop, house, drum'n'bass and acid jazz spinners. A couple of thing we
don't like - the place sometimes feels like a clingy working girls club
house, and the doormen seem to have been trained in the surly style of
people management.
Open: 20:00 - 01:00

Bed Supperclub

Bed Supperclub's tubular elliptical structure, sleek white space-pod
interiors, exquisite restaurant and house and electro DJs makes for
perhaps Bangkok's trendiest, most sophisticated club. The dining area on
the left side of the club, or rather dining lounge, subtitutes
conventional tables with matresses and oversized pillows, inviting
guests to open their minds and sharpen their senses. On Fridays and
Saturdays the Supperclub hosts a superlative dining and entertainment
experience; guests are encouraged to arrive at 20:30 sharp, as there is
only one sitting for the four-course meal.
Seperate from the restaurant, the bar and dance club features a
mezzanine overlooking the dance floor. A VJ operates from within the
crowd on the upper floor and projects visuals on the huge oval window
above the DJ downstairs. Bed has already hosted dozens of critically
acclaimed international DJs, including Miguel Migs, Kenny Dope, Blaze,
DJ Disciple, Alexkid, Gilles Peterson, Charles Schillings, etc. Besides
bringing in top house DJ talent, Tuesdays see Bed play host to its
legendary weekly hip- hop night. Wednesdays are models night, and
Sunday's are Think Pink, Bed's gay night. Entrance is 600 baht most
nights, a bit higher when guest (international) DJs are playing.
Open: 20:00 - 01:00 daily. Restaurant: 19:00 - 24:00 (Monday -
Thursday), 19:30 - 01:00 (Friday and Saturday)

Titanium
Club & Ice Bar

"Located on Sukumvit, Soi 22, Titanium is one of Bangkok’s "coolest"
bars with innovative lighting, superb sound, creative drinks and
celebrity DJs - more than enough to entice the most discerning party
goers. The ice bar temperature is down to minus 10 degrees C and offers
the most spectacular array of vodkas in all of Thailand.
In
the main bar, the crowds are entertained by Unicorn, Titanium’s house
band - the best all-girl rock and roll band in Thailand - a collection
of hot ladies who are "true" musicians and really know how to rock. The
band nightly pulls down any number of songs from the charts of
yester-year and deliver covers of a very high standard. They play Rock,
Soul, R&B, reggae and pure pop - all delivered with style and panache in
a beautifully lit environment to create the perfect live music mood.
Titanium has a well-trained, attentive, staff of young ladies serving
the busy room in Vietnamese Ao Dai dresses. The bar is well-designed and
maintained - a club where you can relax and enjoy live music, as well as
an array of good DJs (between and before sets which kick-off around
9pm.) Check out Titanium - voted one of Bangkok's best live music
venues in
"Bangkok 101" Magazine."

Club Culture

This exotic dance music sanctuary on quiet Sri Ayutthaya Road is the
creation of the Club Astra team (a casualty of RCA's notoriously fickle
crowds). And, frankly, with no other clubs nearby it's a venture rife
with risk - Club Culture can succeed only on its own merits.
Fortunately, being housed in a traditional Thai building (formerly a
restaurant / theatre) complete with original fittings, mean these are
considerable. For starters, there's the gabled and intricately
carved teak-wood entrance – a dramatic opener that continues with the
ornate panelling of the foyer, right through to the motifs of the
spacious, low-slung main room.
The dancefloor is also superb, a blend of empty grooving space
surrounded by the stand up tables so beloved of Thai clubbers. And the
sound system kicks like a mistreated mule. Sofas at the back and a floor
cushion lounge zone are a lazy clubbers dream - chill out without
missing a beat. Most importantly of all the line-up's are hard to fault:
international DJ's like Chicks on Speed and Ken Ishii spinning on
weekends, local party organizers like Dude Sweet stepping up during the
week. Add an infectious vibe courtesy of the friendly Thai/Farang
crowds, and suddenly that risk of failure looks more like unexpected
success.
Open: 20:00 - 02:00

Royal City Avenue
(RCA)

One of the most existing things to do in Bangkok is the late night
clubbing scene at RCA. The mega clubs at RCA like Slim, Route 66 and
Habb would definitely put the other clubbing scenes to shame. All the
clubs have their designated areas for Hip Hop, Trance and Live Music.
Being a Hip Hop music lover, I went straight to my favourite club Route
66 where the Hip Hop music is the loudest. With merely 1,750BHT, I could
opened a big bottle of Black Label whisky and danced til my heels came
off! Cheers to Bangkok's fabulous night clubs!
You can also hop from one club to another. No cover charges apply but do
bring along your passport or a photo identification card as the
admission is quite strict. Fairly young crowd, mainly university
students & some tourists coming out for a fun night & to chill.

Flix/Slim

Don’t be intimidated by the colossal size of this club on RCA. In
keeping with the current trend of RCA, Flix/Slim consists of three major
rooms.
Flix DJ's are spinning quite banging house tunes. The sweeping exterior
is impressive and so is the room on the left (Flix) with a giant
chandelier suspended from the ceiling.
Slim has 2 sections, Hip Hop Zone and Live Zone, which are connected to
each other. The Hip Hop Zone features warehouse styled dancing room with
DJs playing R&B and Hip Hop for energetic crowd who enjoy dancing and
drinking. The Live Zone features comfortable room with dinning tables,
DJs playing most Thai music and live band performances. The Live Zone is
suitable for dinner party and social function with three live bands
performing each night playing most Thai cover songs as well as some of
the popular favorites from the past decade. With the see-through glass
windows/wall make the outlet more spacious allowing people sitting
outdoor to look into the room to see the atmosphere as well. Slim Live
also hosts monthly big promoted concert and surprised concert hoping to
change the pace a vibe a bit for its crowd.
Both spaces are definitely stylin’ with kick-arse sound systems. Weekend
nights are packed out with a mostly youngish Thai crowd. The only
drawback is the lack of a dance floor in Flix and Slim. Admission is
free, but you must have ID.
Open: 05:00 pm - 02:00 am
Location: RCA Block C, Rama 9 Road in
Ratchadaphisek

Angel 's Nana disco

There used to be a club called Angel's Nana Disco, it was a great place
to pick up ladies. However, the parking lot outside of the Nana hotel is
still a great area to meet a lot of ladies.

Coloc

Santika's urbane other room 'Harlem', has been sectioned off to create
this debonair hip-hop den playing tougher beats than next door.
Completely revamped, dark velveteen fabric walls dominate an intimate
space decked out with faux Victorian-era portraits, furniture, deeply
plush curtains and chandeliers.
The corner area is especially ostentatious, mock-library wallpaper and
lurid white Victorian settees giving anyone who sits here an air of pomp
and exclusivity. Enough about what it looks like though - this place
really kicks, courtesy of the more discerning playlist and upscale
international crowd that, on weekends at least, fills it.
Open: 21:00 - 02:00
Location: 253/11 Sukhumvit 63, Ekkamai on
Sukhumvit

Narcissus

Set inside an impressive mansion, the interior is pompous and grand.
Resident DJs play trance while international DJs make appearances
regularly. A popular and packed club.
Open: 21:00 - 02:00
Location: Sukhumvit Soi 23 on
Sukhumvit
Café
Democ

Around for years, this diminutive little restaurant-cum-caf- by day, is
a defining force in Bangkok's club scene by night. During any one of its
events, its graffiti-sprawled walls are regularly and rather expertly
filled with all breeds of dance music - house, electro, pop, new rave,
breakbeat, progressive house, trance, hip-hop and drum & bass. Located
on Ratchadamnoen Road smack-bang next to the famous Democracy Monument
(a ten minute walk from Khao San Road).
Open: 11:00 - 01:00 Tuesday - Sunday
Location: Next to the Democracy monument, Ratchadamnoen Road on
Rattanakosin
The Club
Relive the days when trance music, not Black Eyed Peas, ruled Khao San!
Offering the full-on hands-in-the-air 'rave' experience (complete with
complimentary glow-sticks), The Club is the sort of sleek, snazzy joint
you'd expect to find in Ibiza Town - only minus the vain DJs and
drug-addled masses. What it does have is a big dance floor with
high-ceilings, agitated lasers, UV lights, oversize disco ball, and -
the piece de resistance - a raised DJ booth with trippy visuals working
the backdrop.
It
makes for a near-on hallucinogenic spectacle. Laser beams flicker
through louvered Mediterranean doorways while travellers high on life
and Thai whisky bounce through clouds of dry ice. Others lounge on chic
sofas, awaiting the arrival of their chosen tipple. Tough electro house
and trance doesn't so much fill the air, as pummel it into submission -
don't come here for that talky first date. Do come here to dance like a
lunatic or for one of their full-moon beach parties, when this often
half-empty venue comes alive with sand, deck-chairs and bigger crowds.
Open: 20:00 - 02:00
Location: 123 Khao San Road on
Rattanakosin

Lava Club

Drenched in dim scarlet light and located in a long, dark modern
basement, this hip-hop dungeon is the closest thing to a subterranean
netherworld you'll find on Khao San. Half-naked backpackers and pretty
locals are served by suggestively dressed waitresses, while kids with
attitude, baggy pants and bling, bump and grind. Wannabe hustler DJs
play moody hip-hop to rival the setting. Only gets busy after 11:00 and
entry is free.
Location: basement of the Bayon building, 249 Khao San Road on
Rattanakosin
Lucifers
Disko

Located halfway down Patpong 1, on the left-hand side of the Patpong
Night Bazaar, is Lucifer. Inside is a big, two-level club where red-eyed
demon masks glare down onto a crowd dancing away to anything from
pop and dance through to hardcore techno and trance music. Staff clad in
orange uniforms and Satan's horns serve a large variety of alcoholic and
non-alcoholic drinks. Amazingly, considering the size of the place,
there is no cover charge. Always loud, sometimes packed.
Open: 19:00 - 02:00
Location: 76/1-3 Patpong Soi 1 on
Silom
Luminous

Formerly Soi 4 hip-hop institution 'Speed', this is essentially the
same multi-floor venue, only they've maxed up the 'bling' and juggled
around the DJ booth and bar. When its dark, the whisky flowing, the
beats bumping, you can barely tell the difference. Not a bad thing
considering it was the rawest hip-hop club in town for years.
Like the old days, it only really gets busy on weekends, and upstairs
- where house music reins - is still a ghost land. However, the odd
one-off event (Dude Sweet, Club Soma and DJ Nakadia have all staged
nights here recently) is drawing more eclectic crowds - ravers, not just
aspiring rappers. The al fresco area out front is a good spot for seeing
whose coming and going on flirty Soi 4, and the whisky sets notable for
not slaying your wallet.
Open: 21:00 - 02:00
Location: 78/80 Silom Soi 4 on
Silom

entertainment venue.

9 Night Club

The newest addition to Silom Soi fours array of venues – 9 Night

It offers a real spectacle in the form of a drag cabaret comprising
elements of humour, glamour, and culture for the lively audience.
